Ok Go is an American group that makes these awesome music videos that use alternative ways of making music and many rely on stop action filming. Their elaborate music videos are very entertaining and they won a Grammy in 2007.
A great example of their stop action animation is depicted in their video "Last Leaf"

Today I'd like to share some Fortune Cookie Quotes:

"All of your hard work will soon be paid off."

"Every adversity carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."

"Book lovers never go to bed alone."

I used to save my them up in a box... if I find it I'll share some more of them with you.  Do you have a favorite Fortune Cookie Quote? Please share it with me!

Great Music Videos:

Wouter "Wally" De Backer  or Gotye (pronounced /ˈɡɒti./)), is a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter. The name "Gotye" is derived from "Gauthier", the French equivalent of "Walter" or "Wouter". His voice has been compared to those of Sting and Peter Gabriel.

I was browsing YouTube for the new Gotye song and found this...

"Bronte" by Gotye
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le34ygtODfI#

It has to be my favorite animated music video, although Gotye has some other good videos, like "Hearts a Mess"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnXFJOXvL_A

and the song I had originally gone to YouTube to look up...

"Somebody That I Used To Know"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UVNT4wvIGY

I have to say, that even though "Somebody..." is the song that got me to listen to Gotye (they've been playing it on the radio a lot lately), I really like some of his other music; it's very innovative.

Sorry... It's summer and the kids have been keeping me too busy to post. But I haven't forgotten...
Favorite Movie Quote:
Today's Movie Quote comes from a Cult Classic...
Blade Runner

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain."

That poignant moment when Roy's life is over and he saves Decker from falling off the building always gets to me.

It's too HOT to be outside, so stay in with a good book.
Here's a little excerpt from one of my favorite authors; Robert A. Heinlein (1907- 1988)
from The Notebooks of Lazarus Long, interludes from Time Enough for Love

"Sovereign ingredient for a happy marriage: Pay cash or do without. Interest charges not only eat up a household budget; awareness of debt eats up domestic felicity.

Another ingredient for a happy marriage: budget the luxuries first!

And still another -- see to it that she has her own desk -- then keep your hands off it!

Formal courtesy between husband and wife is even more important than it is between strangers.

Don't try to have the last word. You might get it.

Always tell her she's beautiful, especially if she's not.

Rub her feet.

The more you love, the more you can love --and the more intensely you love. Nor is there any limit on how many you can love. If a person had time enough, he could love all of that majority who are decent and just.

Men are more sentimental than women. It blurs their thinking.

Whenever women have insisted on absolute equality with men, they have invariably wound up with the dirty end of the stick. What they are and what they can do makes them superior to men, and their proper tactic is to demand special privileges, all the traffic will bear. They should never settle merely for equality. For women, "equality" is a disaster.

Do not handicap your children by making their lives easy.

Touch is the most fundamental sense. A baby experiences it, all over, before he his born and long before he learns to use sight, hearing, or taste, and no human being ever ceases to need it. Keep your children short on pocket money -- but long on hugs.

Little girls, like butterflies, need no excuse.

To stay young requires unceasing cultivation of the ability to unlearn old falsehoods.

You live and learn. Or you don't live long.

If you don't like yourself, you can't like other people.

Moving parts in rubbing contact require lubrication to avoid excessive wear. Honorifics and formal politeness provide the lubrication where people rub together. Often the very young, the untraveled, the naive, the unsophisticated deplore these formalities as "empty", "meaningless", or "dishonest," and scorn ot use them. No matter how "pure" their motives, they thereby throw sand into machinery that does not work too well at best.

(and last ~for now~ but certainly not least!)
Never underestimate the power of human stupidity."

Some People...
I stopped on my way home from work to get gas at Hess. I walked in and gave the girl $25 and said (clearly!), "$25 on pump 3 please." She said, "Oh, okay," and pushed buttons and took my money. I went back out and tried to pump said gas into my car (for a few minutes) but with no success.  So I walked back in and asked them to turn on pump 3. Then the girl who helped me told the other girl, "Oh, she paid already but she told me the wrong pump number." I glared at her and said (loudly), "I did NOT tell you the wrong pump number, I came in here and said '$25 on pump 3',!"
"Yeah, okay, I turned it on now," was her snarky response.
So I went back out, pumped my gas and fumed!
What is this world coming to when some gas station clerk can just be so snarky and not expect me to have something to say about it?!
So I stormed back in and told the other girl that I wanted that clerk's name, that she could have at least waited till I left to act like I didn't tell her the right pump number! I didn't appreciate that she'd coped an attitude with me for something she clearly didn't do right! The hapless girl said she didn't like being yelled at for something she didn't do and gave me the clerk's name and a phone number to call and complain. Believe me, tomorrow I'll be burning up the phone lines telling the owners that Casey (the snarky clerk) was rude and incompetent; but politely....'cause that's how I roll.  :)

Movie Review:
Ice Age 4
Madagascar 3
Brave
Snow White and the Huntsman
The Avengers
(scale based on typical 5 stars)

We took the kids to the drive-in movies last night (Fair Oaks Drive-in, Pine Bush, NY) and saw Ice Age 4. Let me tell you, the clips they show on the trailers are the ONLY good parts of the movie! Blue Sky is really reaching with this movie. The bad guy is an ugly ape-like "pirate" who's bent on revenge, and they stoop to a musical interlude!
So my official critique: don't waste your money, just watch the trailers! * (one star)

Now if you want to see a better kids movie, Madagascar 3 is much better! If you're a Madagascar fan, all the favorite characters are back in this trip to Europe. I'm not saying this is a GOOD movie, just better than Ice Age 4, but that's not difficult. It's entertaining and worth the price of a drive-in (not a full priced theater ticket, though!). *** (3 stars)

Disney has come through again with the head-strong Princess Merida in their new movie Brave. Unlike Ice Age 4, they don't give away the whole movie in the trailers. Be prepared to hold your younger children in this movie, as there are some scary parts.  In all it's a good animated film about forgiveness. I'd definately see this one again and might even purchase it when it comes out on DVD.  **** (4 stars)

A not-for-kids movie I saw recently is Snow White and the Huntsman. This action packed, visual adventure is definately NOT for kids under a certain age. The classic fairy tale is transformed into a dark but entertaining 2 hours.
I'd see it again. ****  (4 stars)

Finally, Marvel's The Avengers, was entertaining, for those that like the movies that have been translated into film. Disney has been leading up to the release of this film for some time with the character building of The Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor.  There are pleanty of laughs in this movie to counter balance the violence. My kids favorite part is where Loki tells Hulk he is a GOD and Hulk's... "response".
I'd see this one again too (but remember, I'm a comic book fan). **** (4 stars)

Just got back from the movies...
Too tired to post a full review but stay tuned, tomorrow is Movie Review Time!
(cue dramatic music)
Sorry about that last post... I sound jaded, not entertaining. I know I need to work on my frustration level when it comes to things like that.
So, I promised to entertain...
I work for Sherwin-Williams Paint stores, in Newburgh, NY.  Our store has been open almost 3 years now (Yay!). One Saturday, a guy walked in the front door, glanced around and said, "I'm looking for a charger for my phone...?"
I looked at my co-worker and then back at the guy and said, "I'm sorry, this is a paint store, the Verizon store moved 3 years ago, it's down the street on the left."
He looked at me and then said, "Oh, thanks," and turned around and left.  I burst out laughing! I mean he looked around first! Didn't he NOTICE it was a paint store?!
Things like that happen and I just shake my head.

Okay, so I've got you looking at my blog....
Now to entertain you with my thoughts... (revised)

I wish the old "And they lived Happily Ever After..." had never been started because there is no "happily ever after"!
It seems like everyone I talk to (or listen to) is unhappy, whether they be single, divorced, or married... life is HARD WORK!
Living with someone else and their wants and needs, be they your spouse and children or just your spouse, (or just your child/ren), there are expectations and when there's expectations there are disappointments, hence the unhappiness. That's not even addressing the problems people have communicating with each other. I guess the key is to work through your frustration and be as understanding as possible.

Unbelievable...

Okay, so here's my first post...
I'll try to keep my posts short and sweet... we all know the average adult attention span is short. (Ha Ha!)

I am constantly in a state of awe of people... their stupidity amazes me (although it shouldn't).
I've created this spot to just vent a little because I'm the one in my group of friends and family who seems to say what everyone is thinking, even though it's not an appropriate comment.
Yep, that's me, blurt it out for the world to hear.
"Oops, did I say that out loud?"
My verbal filter got lost somewhere, or maybe I never really had one?

So tune in and find out what I'm gonna comment on next, hopefully it won't be something stupid YOU did!  LOL
